Community Initiatives FTTSA / NDA Development Project - A couple of weeks ago we met with the beneficiaries of the “Strengthening Community Tourism for Sustainable Local Economic Development” project. This 24-month project was designed to strengthen six community tourism initiatives in the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces, funded by the National Development Agency (NDA) of South Africa, and supported and facilitated by Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) and Abang Africa.

Dalukhanyo pre-school project

Uluntu Africa has been assisting Dalukhanyo pre-school in Langa, one of the oldest townships near Cape Town, for the past two years. Dalukhanyo is part of the Hostels to Homes project and provides care for babies and children up to 6 years old. Dalukhanyo is one of the few nursery facilities in Langa and fills the need for cheap and often even free daycare facilities to working parents and single mothers in the area.

Infecting the City - Public Arts Festival

The Spier Public Arts Festival returns to Cape Town for the fourth time from the 21st to 26th February 2011 to shake up and energise the Mother City. A project of the Africa Centre (www.africacentre.net), this public arts festival places provocative, innovative art in the communal spaces of the city’s Central Business District (CBD). Everything on the festival programme is free and accessible to everybody.
